Poetry Prompt Day #1

LATE FALL IN THE WOODS

The air’s getting colder but

the rain held off so

I went for a second walk;

this time I brought home

eight oak leaves;

we could talk about the colours

and shapes of them

if I phone and you’re there

  1. Very Novemberish – a lot of innuendo in here. It’s so much more than about leaves – the last line is sad. But then November is a bit of a lonely month. You do have a way of packing a lot into a few words – and the contrast with the cold and rain and the warmth and colour of the leaves. You do that well.
